Organizations and workspaces
Understand how organizations and workspaces fit together, and switch between organizations.
Mercel has two levels of grouping. Understanding the split makes the rest of these settings click into place.
Organizations vs. workspaces
- An organization is your company. It owns your members, their roles, your security policy, and billing.
- A workspace is a commerce container that lives inside an organization. One organization can hold several workspaces, each with its own settings and its own workspace team.
When you create an organization, Mercel automatically creates a first workspace inside it. Most settings in this section are organization-wide; workspace-specific settings live under Workspaces.
Switch organizations
If you belong to more than one organization, open the organization switcher to move between them.
- Open the switcher from the account menu.
- Select the organization you want to work in.
Mercel remembers your most recent organization and returns you there next time you sign in. From the switcher you can also start a new organization if you run more than one company on Mercel.
